New 0.4 Weapon Degradation

So far the 0.4 update has been absolutely amazing with one serious downgrade. Weapons degrade way too fast. I spent 2 hours running through NT with a MP5 last night (amazing gun now btw) and when I got back to base and looked at repair status was down under 60. It wouldn’t repair past 84. I had just paid $7000 to get it a couple hours ago. This new system is absolutely horrible and not realistic at all. With tens of thousands of rounds through AR platform rifles myself IRL and countless AR builds, weapons simply do not degrade like that. The old system was more accurate. I can see dropping barrel life quicker if using 855A1 as barrels wear out first, everytime. But really hoping for that to change. Part of what I love about the game was the weapons and building. But if guns are worn after less than a days worth of play I have zero incentive to do any buying and building as it’s just going to burn through the cash I worked hard to build up. I’ll just use a new pick up every 30 minutes… which ruins the game for me sadly.

Other than that I love the new update, feels like a whole new game and the AI is amazing.

Yea, I'm of the same opinion. I thought it was still a little to fast last patch. I've not had a lot of play time on this patch yet. It's been a busy week, but plan on getting a good chunk this week.

MP5 was not the point though, paid 17k for a blueprint DDM4 and same story, and that is certainly not a dime-a-dozen rifle. It just does not compute for me for a game prioritizing realism and simulation to wear the guns out so fast.
I see where your coming from, most my issues are with how the hits with the NPCs are its almost like they get in the injury animations and they are invincible.

I think if they tone the dial back a bit on the weapon degradation and make it to where attachments don't wear down as much (or if at all) from firing, then it would feel a lot more nicer.

I took an M16A1 from an enemy that was already degraded a bit, changed out some components and brought it to Gunny for repairs. He brought it to around 80% or so and around 3 hours later of using it constantly it's only at 73.7%. Do some guns degrade faster? Or does Vendor repairs buff the durability a bit?

No, the hot fix gave Weps 50% more HP. So they degraded a little slower now.

I agree, this is kind of ridiculous. You fire a few hundred rounds from a gun and three-quarters of its durability is gone. How did this trash even pass military inspection? I suspect some corruption. I could understand if it were barrel rifling wear or something, but why are the sights and grips also cracking? Are my hands made of sandpaper or what?

Totally agree. Every 30 rounds spent is worth a +-1% of a gun's HP (for an MP-5 with FMJ). Didn't check the last hotfix tho.

I've always been in the habit of repairing weapons everytime I hit a COP, even if it's down 1%. Keeps maintenance down.
Does this actually make sense? I mean, in the game.

For example:
  • You repair it every 1% or so, and eventually, the max durability will be at 50%. There will be a lot of chap repairs.
  • Or you wait longer before repairs, eventually, the max durability will be at 50% too, but in total, there will be fewer repairs, but they will cost more.
What is better? In both ways. Longer gun life overall and in cost.

Why would I let the MOA, Handling, Ergonomics, etc. degrade massively? You'll end up with a horrible rifle. MOA is the biggest issue if you let it degrade forever. You might as well just pick guns up off dead guys if you're not going to keep up with repairs and keep your weapon with opti all stats.
